Client             Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

Duration       From March to December 2008

Description of the Project

Most of the bridges on the road network are temporary Bailey bridges constructed in 1970’s or 1980’s and are too deteriorated and damaged by aging to provide safe and smooth traffic.

To improve such situation, the Royal Government of Bhutan (RGB) requested for the Grant Aid to the Government of Japan (GOJ) regarding the reconstruction of bridges under control of the Ministry of Works and Human Settlement. 5 bridges in Phase I of the project were completed in 2003. 3 bridges in Phase II of the Project were completed in November 2007.

In response to the request from RGB for the Grant Aid to GOJ regarding the reconstruction of remaining bridges, the basic design study for the Phase III of the project was conducted by JICA from April 2008, and Ingérosec provided the consulting services to the study and confirmed that 6 bridges shall be reconstructed. Ingérosec subsequently provided the consulting services for the detailed design, and is currently assigned to the construction supervision services for the Project.
