Preparatory Survey on the Project for Rehabilitation of Road Network in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo
After the long civil war, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has suffered from serious problems such as lame-duck government, stagnant economy, population concentration, destabilization of society and malfunction of the capital city due to imperfect infrastructures (road, water, communication etc.).
DRC has tropical rain forest climate, and approx. 9 months of a year is in rainy season with heavy rain. In such climate, road conditions deteriorate at speed. In addition to it, during the civil war, even the urban road in the capital city and main trunk roads were not maintained, and serious traffic congestion extremely lowers the function of the capital.
To improve such situation, the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (GDRC) requested for the Grant Aid to the Government of Japan (GOJ) regarding the rehabilitation of road network in Kinshasa.
In response to the request from GDRC, the basic design study was conducted by JICA from February 2009, and Ingérosec is providing the consulting services to the study.
Project Summary (on the basis of the request from GDRC)
